Wolfram's a guy. In their country custom, when a royal (A) slaps another royal (B)on the left cheek, (A) is proposing to marriage. But Yuuri accidently slapped Wolfram on the left cheek. So that's how they ended up fiances. Yuuri doesn't want to marry Wolfram, but Wolfram wants to marry Yuuri.

He's not necessarily "gay", they elaborate more on the custom in the manga. At first Wolfram doesn't want to refuse it because it would shame him or other such nonsense, but they never say how he accepted the proposal. In the manga it says when the royal (B) turns his/her right cheek it is a sign of approval. Yuuri hit him so hard that he accidently accepted.

Secondly in their world people just fall in love with who they fall in love with, its like gender doesn't even exist. Because they were engaged, Wolfram decided to start looking at Yuuri that way, and fell for him. At the end of the series it's implied that Yuuri accepts it and they might just get married.

And lastly....yuuram fangirl btw ^___^ lol
I think the "gender doesn't matter" thing should really be how it is in the real world. Love is love; homophobes need to get a life.
